The guaranteed interprofessional minimum wage (SMIG) and the guaranteed agricultural minimum wage (SMAG) are instituted by the decree n° 73-247 of May 26, 1973. These wages include the transport allowance of five dinars instituted in July 1986 by decree 86-691 (Jort N°41 of the 18 July 22, 1986).
Increases of the SMIG and the SMAG took place in May for the years 1995 and 2000, in August for the years 1991, 1994, 1998 and in July for the year 2001. It is to be announced that in 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1999 there were two revalorizations of the minimum wage: in September and May for the year 1996 and in July and November in 1997et in August and May in 1999, one to accompany the program by adjustment of the prices of the compensated products and the other to revalorize the wages.
